UK robot sales in 2010 were up 65% on 2009 figures, reversing a downward trend in sales since 2005, according to the British Automation and Robot Association (BARA).
A survey by BARA of 40 robotics and automation companies ‘paint an optimistic picture for robotics and automation’, says Mike Wilson, President of BARA.
“Compared with 2006 figures, the food and drink industry is up by 228%, pharmaceutical, healthcare and medical has risen by 263%.”
However, the survey indicates that small and medium sized companies still lag behind as users. To increase awareness of the benefits, BARA is running a series of UK road shows to begin in March.
