Top marks for laser printed labels

25 February 2010

Non-contact laser marking offers clairity and precision when used to add customised information such as date codes or lot numbers ‘on the fly’ during the packaging stage., and can work well with a pre-printed label, says Laser Lines.

The pack for processed meats, has a self-adhesive gold foil label overprinted with spot and process colour. As the product is packed and sealed, to create a date code, the CO2 laser ablates the ink away from the gold foil, leaving an impressive gold-coloured mark.

The process involves an FH Flyer marking head and Synrad WinMark Pro laser marking software. The date code text is 3.18mm tall with 0.46mm of extra character spacing, Marking velocity is 635mm/sec and cycle time 0.13 sec/label.
