EFIA promotes flexo understanding through its online Academy

In my last column I mentioned the EFTA Academy – our online learning resource, and it might be useful for packaging professionals to understand what benefits they would get from studying flexo through this route.

To get the best out of flexo all those associated with promoting a product, from designers through to product and brand managers, would always get the excellent graphic results achievable if they understood the capability of the process and what can and cannot be done in a cost effective manner.

With flexo capable of producing packaging on such a wide range of substrates, it can fulfill many of the packaging requirements for a brand – flexible packaging, complemented by labels and corrugated boxes for example, but, unfortunately, many packaging designers come from a background where they design with the litho process in mind and this is not always the correct way to produce the best design flexo can print.

EFIA – through the EFTA Academy have developed an online learning resource that will help everyone in the supply chain understand the fundamentals of the process. We have included modules on colour and repro as part of this course as we think it is helpful for all those attending the programme to understand the linkages. It would help all those in the design and repro areas if they understood how the process works and the inherent complexities and capabilities. With over 170 people attending the Academy, we already have 20 people studying from this area and it is available for anyone who really wants to get the best out of what flexo can offer.

The EFTA Academy is all online and does not need to take you away from work – and you can have up to a year to complete the course. It is a cost and time effective way of encouraging professional development for the packaging industry.
