Tullis Russell’s trucard guides the way

18 August 2008

Scottish papermaker Tullis Russell has created a set of ‘mini-guides’ to showcase the recent additions to its leading SBS* board range, trucard.

Printed by Capscan in Edinburgh and designed by Size Design, each mini-guide cleverly folds down to a neat A6 size product guide. The guides give users and specifiers all the information required to make an informed choice from trucard’s exciting new additions. Each features extensive use of four colour process print on both coated and uncoated surfaces and demonstrates the superb creasing and folding properties of the range - characteristics that make trucard the ideal choice for a wide variety of premium graphical and packaging applications.

The guides are being distributed throughout the UK and Europe and have been translated into German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. They illustrate the variety of textures and finishes available across the range showcasing the recent new additions to the range - trucard ice, trucard 1 matt, trucard 0 and trucard 1 gloss recycled.

trucard ice enjoys the ultra smooth surface of a traditional cast coated grade yet boasts the print and conversion performance of a conventional cartonboard. The super smooth finish, with its special coating formulation, allows the use of standard inks but achieves the drying speeds of conventional coated grades. trucard ice is ideal for lamination with glossy, matt, metalised or pearlescent films and foils and produces the fine quality finish required in premium quality card, cover and packaging applications.

trucard 0, engineered specifically in response to the growing demand for a more tactile uncoated surface, offers a genuine uncoated, premium quality, woodfree SBS cartonboard, available in three superior finishes and boasting exceptional stiffness for an uncoated board.

trucard 1 matt is fully coated on one side and has high levels of whiteness and brightness. It combines a smooth matt coated surface with superior bulk and stiffness. This complements the existing two side coated product – trucard 2 matt.

trucard 1 gloss recycled is a fully coated one side gloss board containing a minimum of 50% de-inked post consumer recycled pulp and as well as carrying the prestigious NAPM Recycled mark it is also FSC certified. trucard 1 gloss recycled uses only top quality post-consumer reclaimed material, meaning it prints and converts just like standard trucard, whilst maintaining a bright, white, clean and dust free surface. Following the continued demand for recycled grades, Tullis Russell have further widened the choice available with the addition of recycled versions of trucard 2 gloss, trucard 0 matt and trucard 0 felt.

The trucard product range currently offers the widest choice of coated SBS boards available in the card, cover and premium packaging markets. The entire range uses a twin-wire base, which guarantees outstanding bulk, stiffness and dimensional stability and thus provides exceptional print and converting performance. Each specification is fully FSC certified, made from ECF pulps and fully recyclable and gives users real choice when looking for a board with sound environmental credentials.
