Supporting beverage manufacturing across the world

20 March 2012

HP Bulmers’s Strongbow, Diageo’s Bushmills Whisky and Sprecher Brewery’s Pipers Scotch Ale are just a few of the beverage brands that are using Videojet Technologies to support them with their production demands.

Through working closely with a large number of beverage manufacturers, Videojet understands what matters to the beverage manufacturing industry and has answered with coding equipment specifically designed to meet those needs.

High speed lines, rapid line changeovers, tough environments and no tolerance for downtime are common cause for headaches on the production line but Videojet’s 1000 Series inkjet printers and laser marking systems can help remove these issues.

HP Bulmer’s canning site in Herefordshire use the VJ1610 inkjet printer which is specifically designed for high speed lines and 24/7 sites. John Lewis, Production Manager, was impressed with the new printer as it was even more reliable and compact. He said:

“The Videojet 1610 is simple and easy to use. 80% of mistakes occur due to human error, and the intuitive operator interface reduces this.”

Andrew Rawcliffe, Packaging Maintenance Manager, added:

“The machines are so reliable we don’t need to intervene.”

The launch of the new VJ1710 high contrast inkjet printer gave Sprecher Brewery what they needed when coding onto dark coloured glass was causing downtime on the line. They were experiencing regular maintenance intervals and print head cleaning. Tom Bosch, Production Manager explained:

“We can’t afford to have something shut down the line. With our new Videojet coder, we’ve had no problems so it has been a great help to our operations.”

Using the VJ1710 with yellow pigmented ink to code its beer bottles has significantly increased uptime at the US plant.

Videojet has a strong portfolio of satisfied beverage customers that have been benefitting from both superior coding equipment and great support. John Lewis at HP Bulmers told Videojet:

“Even under the most difficult situations, the support of Videojet has been there. All of theservice engineers are very friendly and helpful.”

Videojet can help manufacturers in the soft drink and alcoholic beverage industry with many applications including:

  • Clear bright codes onto amber or green glass
  • PP soft drink caps
  • Clear PET bottles with dark contents
  • Returnable bottles utilizing removable ink
  • High speed canning or bottling lines
