Racupack at the PPMA

30 October 2008

The side load mechanism sits directly over the carton transport chain, significantly reducing the overall width of the machine. It can be quickly and easily lifted out of the way using pneumatic cylinders, giving access to clear jams or to carry out maintenance.

The machine is able to run at speeds up to 200 carton/min, but has a footprint of only 1.5m x 5.5m making it one of the most compact machines on the market.

The machine follows Racupack’s unique Catamaran design and offers unparalleled hygiene because:

? All servo drives, pneumatics and electrical controls housed in separate cabinets forming one wall of the machine frame

? Other (loading) side of the machine also a clean wall linked via fabricated, stainless arches - very sturdy construction.

? No drives or gearboxes within the main frame of the machine.

? Fully stainless as standard.

? Built to HACCP guidelines.

? Overhead railing system to avoid contamination/dirt traps.

? Open cable ways to allow fumigation and avoid infestation.

? Upper half of machine guarded by 15mm thick, frameless, clear acrylic doors - all interlocked.

? All significant adjustments made via the control panel using pre-loaded recipes or using hand wheels with SIKO digital readouts. Other adjustment points provided with verniers.

? All infeed systems built with same open construction and DO NOT pass through or over main workings of the machine.

Racupack, will also be exhibiting the latest evolution of the revolutionary C90 compact carton closer for vertically erected, top-load cartons.

This latest version uses a new IPC bus system to replace the obsolete control system used in previous versions of this machine.

The C90 machine has a unique, patented carton handling system allowing it to achieve closing speeds of up to 200 c.p.m. while handling the carton gently to avoid damage of delicate products. The system turns the carton progressively, without stopping it, whilst maintaining full control, so problems with product being ejected from the open carton are eliminated.

The machine has a lugless transport system, so there is no risk of carton damage. There are no size change parts so changeovers are very quick (normally under three minutes).

The lugless system also means that the machine can accept cartons at random from upstream filling lines.

Added to all this the machine has a small footprint (less than 5m x 1.25m) and with few moving parts is a low maintenance machine with low running costs.

The machine is available with either hot melt glue closure or hot air sealers.

In the last 10 years Racupack have gone from strength to strength with the Catamaran series, which has sold well both in the UK and mainland Europe. Many “household name” companies are now using Racupack for cartoning, case packing and tray loading operations.
