Ardagh spreads its wings

24 March 2011

Since the European Commission approved the acquisition by Ardagh Glass of metal can and aerosol manufacturer Impress in December 2010, the management team has focused on creating a new identity and a shared vision for the enlarged company, now called Ardagh Group.

Ardagh Group combines the strengths of its glass and metal heritages as a leading consumer packaging company. In addition to strong sustainability credentials, it adds a significantly increased scale and global reach with a diversified geographic and product portfolio.

The Group’s turnover is currently €3.2 billion, spread across a number of sectors, including foods, beers, speciality cans and aerosols, in addition to wines and spirits. It has almost 100 locations in 24 countries worldwide, and some of the world’s leading brands feature in its customer base.

Ardagh Group is the leading glass packaging company in the UK and Germany, the number two player in Benelux and the Nordic countries, and is third largest overall in Europe. The Group is the world’s leading seafood cans manufacturer and the number one in North America. It leads the European and Australasian aerosol markets, and is second in the European and Australasian food can markets.

The combined entity is dedicated to operational excellence and innovation across all aspects of its business and in all the markets that it serves. Metals, for instance, has won over 70 awards since 2005 for its continuous innovation, and by creating very positive partnerships with its customers, Glass has pioneered many developments in new shaping, decoration and lightweighting.

The Group will use its presence at Interpack 2011 to introduce the new organisation and its competences.
